One Minute I Was Fine… Then Came the Crumbs, the Tears, and the Fog

I don’t know about you, but when I first started noticing the changes, I wasn’t even sure they were changes. I just thought I was losing it. One day I was fine, and the next? I couldn’t remember what I walked into the kitchen for, I snapped at my kids over crumbs, and I cried watching an advert for tea bags.

Welcome to perimenopause. Not that anyone told me that’s what it was.

“I Didn’t Know What I Didn’t Know”

That’s the bit that frustrated me. No one really warned me how much this stage of life can affect you, and how much it can mess with your mind. There was some talk about the hot flushes, the night sweats, the heavy periods (yep, had all of those too), but what about the anxiety? The overwhelm? The moments you stare at your to-do list and want to hide under the duvet instead of getting through it?

Is this something you resonate with?

It’s Not Just in Your Head (But It Kind of Is…)

During perimenopause, your oestrogen and progesterone levels start fluctuating all over the shop, and they play a HUGE role in brain chemistry. So, when they drop? It can feel like your confidence does too. Your energy. Your clarity. Your ability to cope.

I remember sitting in a meeting, heart racing, completely blank. I used to be so sharp, I thought. What is wrong with me?

Sound familiar?

If you’re nodding along, please hear this: nothing is wrong with you.
You are going through something incredibly powerful, and yes, it’s messy. But it’s not madness. It’s your brain and body asking for a different kind of support.

Your Mind Needs Holding Too

What helped me was learning to meet myself with a bit more kindness (easier said than done, I know).

I started learning about mindset coaching, mindfulness, and the way our thoughts shape our inner world. And slowly, I began to shift from What is wrong with me? to What do I need right now?

Sometimes it was rest.
Sometimes it was a proper rant.
Sometimes it was cake. (A little too often, oops)

But it was also connection to other women going through the same. That changed everything.

You're not alone!

If you’re reading this and feeling seen, then that’s the whole point of me sharing this. You are not alone. And more importantly, this isn’t the end of the story. In fact, it can be the start of a powerful chapter.

You don’t have to fight your body. You don’t have to fear your mind. You just need support that gets it. That gets you.

And that’s why I do what I do. Because I want you to know there is another way to live through this season of life. One where you’re supported, understood, and thriving not just surviving.

Let’s unplug the myths. Let’s talk honestly. And let’s start giving your mind the TLC it deserves.

Remember, you're definitely not losing it, we're all in this together! Perimenopause can feel like a mystery tour with no map, but there is support, and you can find your way through. If I can support you in anyway please reach out to chat.
